Caris Reid paints with acrylic paint on panel. Her paintings explore the intersection of the physical and spiritual world, and give structure to the ineffable. Characterized by bold planes of color, a visual cadence of symbols both common and esoteric, and often working with symmetry, her paintings create a rhythmic and hypnotic visual field. She has attended residencies at 100 West Corsicana, and Takt Kunstprojektraum in Berlin, Germany. Her recent exhibitions include Suddenly Last Summer at Longhouse Projects, NY, The Ocean is Double Sided at SEASON, Seattle, and Diamond Seat: Amanda Valdez and Caris Reid, Circuit 12, Dallas. She has an upcoming two-person exhibition, Time & Tide, with Amanda Valdez at Denny Gallery, NY, and the group show Equinox at the Willows, Brooklyn, NY. Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, Vogue Japan, and the New Yorker. She was recently named "An Artist to Watch in 2016" by Nylon Magazine.
