THERE EXISTS A WANDERING CLAN WHO CIRCLES THE WORLD, CHASING STORMS, TRACKING WEATHER PATTERNS AND HOPPING FLIGHTS TO DIFFERENT COASTS. THE CLAN IS COMPRISED OF NOMADS ON THE HUNT FOR THE IDEAL WAVE. BUT IN THE SEA, AS ON LAND, PERFECTION IS AS SUBJECTIVE AS IT IS FLEETING. THE MYTHICAL RIDE IS EPHEMERAL – AND THE EVER-UNDULATING OCEAN SERVES UP SURPRISES AT EVERY TURN, EXPOSING ITS RELIABLE RESTLESSNESS AND EARTHLY OMNIPOTENCE.
It is this eternal fluidity and strength that inspires Eskayel, Shanan Campanaro’s line of textiles. A member of the aforementioned clan, avid surfer Shanan translates the colors she encounters in the ocean, sunset and wildlife into watercolor-like patterns that adorn wallpapers, rugs, pillows and bedding. Creations that both capture nature and champion it; each carries a message of sustainability and responsibility, defining characteristics of Shanan’s production and business practices.
Eskayel is taking part in Love or Nothing, a pop-up event of women artists curated by Skye Parrott and Pamela Love. It is on display from February 12 - April 1 at Wilder in Nashville, and is shoppable online.
